We have been engaged by an employee-owned company ( ESOP ) in the near southwest suburbs of Chicago to secure an individual in this Director of Finance role to lead acquisition efforts and provide strategic and accounting expertise when needed to this mid-size leading product retailer with a 200,000 ft showroom and separate warehouse, 267 employees in total.
Succession planning in mind we are seeking Stability and Strategy in this Leader with Acquisitions and Accounting experience as Director of Finance.
- All employees are Owners! This hire will not have to contribute yet Will Earn Stock annually. This is a meaningful amount of ownership to be attained!
- About $78-80M in annual revenue size - this location is prepared for even more sales volume. They had their best year in 2021 due to organic growth.
Seeking continued growth both organically and through acquisition.
- Distribution center in IL also has more capacity to accommodate more volume as they grow.
- Culture is down to earth, very collaborative (a manager may fill in at any level needed).
- Never have had a layoff, in tough times they may hold off on hiring, that's it.

Reporting to President
Main Duties of Director of Finance :
- Strategy role most focused on identifying nationwide acquisition targets of companies with the same product line to open a new location showroom, maybe two.
- Ability to back-up accounting to cover for CFO as the only other degreed professional to manage bank reconciliations, answer questions on G / L, instruct A / P as needed on pay schedule to attain discounts.
- Lead Ad hoc projects, for example recently changed credit card or service companies to another.
- Work with a bank that finances their accounts receivables.
- Working with legal on contracts (recently changed auditors, cleaning service, snow plowing, lease-to-own company, and in 2023 changed private label bank for their store's own credit card).
- Assist with marketing and advertising handled by President
- May sit with CFO, President and HR dealing with strategic planning and annual commercial insurance contract
- Lead in absence of CFO on how to handle the situations as needed (customer collections efforts or trouble with financing a purchase).
May make journal entries.
Uses QuickBooks Desktop for the G / L and for the POS system as well.
