POSITION
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer pool in French to teach undergraduate courses in French language, culture, literature, linguistics and / or film (beginners to advanced learners).
Areas of Specialization
We are seeking highly motivated, well-organized individuals to teach in at least two of the following subject areas :
- French Language, Introductory to Advanced
- French / Francophone Culture, Intermediate to Advanced
- French / Francophone Literature, Intermediate to Advanced
- French Linguistics, Intermediate to Advanced
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold at least a master’s degree in French or a related field and possess native-like fluency in French to teach lower-division (100- and 200-level) courses, must be at least a Ph.
D. candidate (ABD) in French or a related field and possess native-like fluency in French in order to teach 300-level courses, and must hold a Ph.
D. in French or a related field and possess native-like fluency in French in order to teach 400-level courses.
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
- This position requires the legal right to work in the United States of America. California State University, Fullerton cannot sponsor part-time faculty for work visas or permanent residence.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching.
- Preference will also be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

Its French Program teaches an array of interdisciplinary French courses, from elementary language classes to advanced seminars, and delivers the following academic degrees and programs :
- Bachelor of Arts in French
- Single Subject Matter Preparation for the Teaching Credential in French
- Minor in French
- General Education courses, an active French Club, a weekly French Table, and CSU-approved International Programs in Paris, Aix-en-Provence and Québec

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for part-time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December;
the Spring term runs from mid-January through the end of May.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association.
Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range : $5,007 - $6,359 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $5,925 per month.
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070.
