Overview

Assistant Professor, Communication Sciences and Disorders. The Department invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026, pending final administrative approval. Our undergraduate-only program provides numerous experiential learning opportunities for students. All majors complete a mentored research project over three semesters and a minimum of four semesters of practicum in the College’s Freedlander Speech and Hearing Clinic. The ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring undergraduate students in research endeavors and excited about introducing students to both the professions and inquiry across disciplines in an arts and sciences context. We will consider candidates with expertise in either Audiology or Speech-Language Pathology that complements current faculty expertise.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses based on specialization, including Audiology, Auditory Rehabilitation, Speech and Hearing Science, Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders, or Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism. Depending on specialization, the candidate may also develop new courses for the curriculum (e.g., disability; sign language).
• Teach First-Year Seminar and advise junior and senior research projects in the College’s nationally recognized Independent Study program.
• Possibly supervise undergraduates in the College’s Freedlander Speech and Hearing Clinic.
• Maintain a teaching load of 5.5 courses per year, including credited mentoring for junior and senior independent study projects.
