We are providing an opportunity for a Sr. Accountant to become part of our team. Our client based in Concord, California, requires work history with maintaining the accounting records for month-end, preparing financial statements, and handling the day-to-day general ledger reconciliations and postings.
This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in the finance industry for a Non-Proft handling grant and fund accounting, and who is seeking to apply their skills in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and reconcile monthly journal entries to align financial records with banking accounts.
- Post revenue from all funding sources in adherence to contract stipulations.
- Ensure that all expenses are posted to projects and conform to the allocation plan, maintaining backup information for any changes that affect allocations.
- Allocate employee benefits according to Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) calculations.
- Reconcile bank statements with cash disbursements across all bank accounts.
- Coordinate with the Accounting Specialist to ensure the accuracy of Accounts Payable data.
- Prepare financial statements and make necessary corrections to ensure they balance.
- Ensure monthly charges conform to the allocation plan and maintain backup information on any changes.
- Provide external reporting for specific contracts as required.
- Follow all Internal Control Procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger management
- Experience with Journal Entries and Month End Close procedures
- Knowledge of Anonymization practices in accounting
- Experience in Grant Accounting is preferred
- Ability to prepare and analyze Financial Statements
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
