The Compensation Analyst, Senior will be a member of the Compensation team and will assist in the implementation, administration, and maintenance of the University Career Architecture and pay structure.

This position will serve as a resource for campus on all related compensation matters for university staff employees by providing education and advice on market practices and trends;

participate in compensation surveys; and ensure legal compliance, equity, and alignment with compensation practices / guidelines and University Compensation Philosophy.

As a senior analyst they will also serve as a resource to other analyst and provide support on higher level projects, this position will focus on training and education regarding compensation topics with a focus on UAGC integration.

This position is fully remote within the state of Arizona

Duties & Responsibilities

Client groups compensation support :

  • Collaborates with assigned units and HR Partners to review position descriptions and determine appropriate position mapping within career architecture for the creation of new positions.
  • Assess for approval initial salary placement required to be reviewed by compensation such as above midpoint pay requests.
  • Review and assess compensation change requests ( merit and additional duties pay), promotional requests, or job remapping requests.
  • Ensures compensation decisions are fair and equitable and align with the University Compensation Administration Guidelines.
  • Be a compensation resource for assigned client groups.
  • Provide additional back up assistance to compensation analysts (PC1s) with their client groups, and act as a resources for newly hired analysts.
  • Provides information, education and advice on market practices, trends, analysis and data related to compensation.
  • Recommends solutions in accordance with established policies, procedures and applicable laws.
  • Provides analytical support and prepares summaries to demonstrate awareness of potential impact of compensation decisions.
  • Conducts internal equity analysis as needed.

Compensation training and educational support :

  • Work with and provide Team Lead support in the creation and development of training materials related to compensation topics for campus.
  • Conduct compensation trainings for departments and HR on related compensation topics.
  • Conduct surveys on efficacy of trainings and use analytics to make recommendations on improvements or changes to compensation trainings.
  • Work closely with UAGC leadership to further educate UAGC units on best compensation practices for next stage of UAGC integration to University of Arizona.
  • Engage with HR training and development team for possible adoption of compensation trainings into Edge learning environment or other Online training modalities.
  • Prepare and devise possible communication plans regarding compensation trainings in conjunction with HR leadership and communication team.

Compensation team support :

  • Participates in efforts to conduct annual benchmarking of UA jobs and provides recommendations to compensation leadership on salary increase budgets, market conditions, strategic opportunities, and salary structure movement.
  • Ensure competitive market positioning by providing benchmarking analysis and recommendations and provide support to other analysts for the completion of market surveys.
  • Provide recommendations to compensation leadership on salary increase budgets, market conditions, strategic opportunities, and salary structure movement.
  • Provide preliminary benchmarking analysis and give recommendations to Compensation leadership as needed throughout the year to ensure competitive market positioning.
  • Assist the compensation manager in the administration and maintenance of the University Career Architecture and pay structure.

Compensation Compliance :

  • Conducts internal audits and provides interpretations of laws, policies, and procedures affecting compensation to ensure compliance.
  • Identifies areas of potential exposure and / or liability and recommends appropriate action.
  • Provide recommendations for appropriate action to the Compensation Manager and AVP for compliance concerns.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities related to HR and Compensation for further understanding on compliance compensation matters.
  • Assist Compensation Manager and Team Lead on annual reviews of efficacy of compensation philosophy, guidelines, and policies and ensure in alignment with emerging laws and trends.

Compensation Data Analytics and Projects :

  • Compile data from various software platforms as needed for either client group or compensation team projects.
  • Assist as needed with other compensation projects at the direction of the Compensation Manager.
  • Assist in training other analyst regarding compensation trainings in order to garner their support in conducting compensation trainings.
  • Utilize Excel to prepare financial analysis of changes to existing compensation programs and prepares executive summaries and proposals.
  • Conduct ad hoc compensation reviews as needed at the discretion of the compensation Manger.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Human Resources or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional)or other compensation certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Science, Human Resources, or other related field.
  • Experience in conducting compensation trainings and / or presenting compensation topics to an audience.
