Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the SpEd Director, to implement speech and language therapy for students with disabilities or impairments by developing individualized programming based on deficits with communication, pragmatics, interaction skills, community integration, and social skills.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate student's current level of functioning as it relates to the areas of language and communication, using culturally sensitive and appropriate assessment tools
- Schedule, plan and convene ETR teams for the purposes of initial and re-evaluations
- Regularly evaluate and report student progress, identifying strengths and needs toassist the team in making program modifications
- Regularly collect and analyze data
- Determine appropriate interventions based on assessment results
- Collaborate with general education staff and special education staff to determine needs and monitor progress
- Experience providing services within the general education setting
- Experience participating on Teacher Based Teams
- Implements appropriate instructional activities, based on established curriculum,which meet the individual learning needs of students and maximize communicationand participation opportunities.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the SpEd Director and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of special education principles and strategies as applied to children withsevere speech and physical impairments.
- Knowledge of augmentative / alternative communication principles and strategies, andtechnology applications currently available in the field.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, speak and write effectively and work undera minimum of direction.
- Ability to elicit the cooperation of others and function as an effective team member.
- Ability to participate in the overall educational program and team planning,development of activities that include long range strategic goals and initiatives.
- Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents / guardians, andfellow staff members
- Adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations
- Performs assigned duties and is punctual with reports, grades, records andreporting to work
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile
Certification / License :
- Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Valid Speech and Language Pathology license from the Ohio professional board and certificate from the Ohio Department of Education
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education :
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in related field.
Experience :
Successful prior experience working as a SLP, preferably in an educational or other pediatric practice setting.
