Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for NJMS-Pediatrics-Adolescent Medicine.
The Licensed Practical Nurse engages adolescents and young adults (AYAs) in the clinic under the guidance of a physician and Advance Practice Nurse (APN).
The LPN provides clinical expertise in family planning and prevention strategies, and provides assessment, planning, and treatment of HIV / STI positive youth in the Division of Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM).
Functions in a variety of roles including clinical, administrative, and centralized services depending on the needs of the clinic.
Among the key duties of this position are the following :
- Provides patient care according to Rutgers protocols and policies and the professional standards of the American Nurses Association.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, Title X, CDC, DEA, and the New Jersey Department of Public Health.
- Complies with all LPN related documented workflows including the follow-up and referral procedures.
- Works collaboratively with all clinic staff and managers to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Assists the physician with the correct ordering of all labs and diagnostics in Epic EHR per follow-up procedures and ensures specimens are collected prior to patient departure from the clinic.
- Assists the physician with management of any pregnancy related follow-up of abnormal results and referrals

Possession of a valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Certifications / Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Phlebotomy and physical assessment skills are essential.
- Thorough working knowledge of regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practices guidelines.
- Must exhibit cultural sensitivity to work with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office components, particularly Excel.
- Proficiency in Spanish is required.
- Team builder
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent research skills
- Proficiency in EPIC
- Prior experience working with the adolescent and young adult populations with sexual and reproductive is highly preferred.
