Position description

Autism genetics lab seeking a Specialist for computational analysis of large datasets investigating gene-sex, gene-gene, and gene-environment interaction.

Background in human genetics and analytical experience in genome-wide datasets highly desirable; computer programming, advanced statistical skills, and experience in neuropsychiatric genetics also advantageous.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, a creative trouble-shooter, and flexible in contributing to a range of collaborative projects.

Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least 4 years of relevant research experience.

Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least 5 years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least 5-10 years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Specialists appointed at the Full rank must possess (or in process of obtaining) a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or 10 or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Applicants must meet all qualifications by appointment effective date.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities.

Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.

Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.

The general responsibilities of this position are as follows :

Conduct statistical analyses using genetic and phenotypic data provided, graph results, aid in quality control, trouble-shooting, and interpretation of results.

You may be asked to help in the preparation of a manuscript or relevant grant applications.
