is seeking an Assistant Principal to complement the existing leadership team and support the Sylvester Middle School students, families, and staff as a school leader.
This individual has a demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, social justice, inclusion and culturally responsive education as reflected in their previous teaching, learning, and leadership practices and experiences, in addition to having experience working with a linguistically and ethnically diverse population of students and families.
As a leader at Sylvester, this individual must be someone who values and seeks authentic two-way communication with families and the community, and also be someone who values innovation, collaboration, building trusting relationships and community engagement.
As an instructional leader, this individual must be someone who has experience in leading staff with Standards Based Grading and Instruction.
In addition to being heavily invested in the development of students, they must prioritize social-emotional learning as well as a restorative approach that centers around student voice with advisory programming at the heart.
Additionally, an ideal candidate for this position is someone who has the ability to translate Sylvester's mission and vision and educational leadership theory into concrete, actionable items in a way that balances both the transformational and tactical / technical elements that are involved in leading a school.
This candidate is able to create systems of organization and leverage digital tools and supports in order to positively influence school culture and instructional goals.

Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Washington State Teaching or Educational Staff Associate Certificate (Active or ability to obtain by contractual start date)
- Washington State Principal Certificate (Active or ability to obtain by contractual start date)
Salary
$155, 592 - $182, 867
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the principal in the general administration of the school and serve as acting principal when the principal is absent.
- Supervise student discipline and welfare and maintain records of individual disciplinary actions.
- Coordinate matters of student discipline and welfare with parent / guardian, teacher and support personnel.
- Supervise attendance and truancy matters.
- Assist in coordinating student activities with the instructional goals of the school.
- Assist in the development of school policy.
