Summary
Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers, such as inspectors, precision workers, machine setters andoperators, assemblers, fabricators, and plant and system operators.
What You'll Do
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be Safety and Quality champions within the plant.
- Will conduct his / her self in a professional manner and lead by example.
- Immediately become a Problem Solver once quality defects are detected.
- Provides leadership to ensure team members demonstrate appropriate work skills, technical accuracy, efficiency and conformity to company policies.
- Regularly monitors each team member's adherence to safe work practices and Company's safety policies as well as all quality practices and initiatives.
- Monitors employee productivity and ensures employees are at their work stations as required to meet daily productivity goals.
- Meets with group leaders to determine daily and weekly work priorities and adjusts work activities accordingly.
- Prepares team member schedules and authorizes absences or overtime in order to meet work requirements with supervisor and manager approval.
- Communicates effectively both verbally and in written form.
- Serves as contact person for other Group and Team Leaders to answer questions or address
- Relays and shares information with team members and other departments in a timely manner.
- Schedules meetings with staff and attends meetings with other departments to ensure optimum communication.
- Provides positive and negative feedback to team members both verbally and in writing as necessary.
- Documents feedback through Confirmation of Conversations (COC) form once approved by supervisor.
- Assists supervisor in Conducting annual performance reviews for team members effectively and timely.
- Ability to positively coach and motivate departmental employees.
- Ensures team members receive appropriate training necessary to meet and exceed job expectations.
- Coaches team members requiring additional support and training.
- Assists team members wanting to proceed to the next level of job pay range.
- Monitors production to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Reinforces the use of work instructions and other documentation to ensure that quality standards for fit, function and appearance are met every time.
- Responsible to write or assist in writing Work Instructions for all positions within the department.
- Works with newly hired and / or transferred team members to ensure they thoroughly understand and properly perform their job duties in accordance with the work instructions.
- Spends a reasonable percentage of time focused on process improvement, which includes 5S, spaghetti diagrams and all other departmental improvement projects.
- Ensures the department is reasonably clean throughout the work day and that all employees have an assigned housekeeping task.
- Responsible for end of shift housekeeping duties for area employees.
- Utilizes production management tools such as pitch charts and other visual aides to monitor processes.
- Participates in ongoing training and other company programs to develop leadership and job skills when available.
- Works side by side with team approximately 50% of work time.
Who You Are
- Provide operational support services and sometimes act as first-line supervisor of a transactional operations area. Involves using existingsystems and protocols.
- Operate complex machines and systems, adjusting processes to optimize quality and productivity. Also responsible for generatingsolutions to complex inefficiencies.
- Contribute data and information to production plans. Run reports, check accuracy, and distribute information.
- Lead a team performing routine work; conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assignemployee training to experienced workers.
- Follow the organization's EHS policies, procedures and mandatory instructions; to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the wellbeing of oneself and other in the workplace;
instruct the team in a safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
- Ensure work is completed to the required standards of productivity, quality and timeliness; support the quality function by working withinstrict quality standards.
- Provide instruction and informal advice to less experienced colleagues within the team to develop their skills.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes ofconduct to ensure own work adheres to those standards.
Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions frommandatory procedure.
