Job Description

Registered Nurse who performs fetal non-stress tests (NSTs), limited ultrasounds, biophysical profiles, performs RN assessments, administers medication, and coordinates care for patients with high risk pregnancies.

Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to obstetrics, and understanding of pathological conditions that lead to the diagnosis, management, and treatment of current or potential medical problems affecting the wellbeing of infant and patient.

  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients & their families while they are in the nurse’s care.
  • Assisting in the training and development of inpatient RN & student skills.
  • Perform patient assessments including but not limited to limited ultrasound, fetal non-stress testing, and standard obstetrical wellness.

Acquire and analyze data obtained from prior examinations, patient history, and related diagnostic technologies such as ultrasound or fetal monitoring.

  • Coordinate care for patients transferring into HHC hospitals for higher level care or deliveries by organizing and contacting the patient’s care team, triaging records, and communicating with the patient regarding their plan of care.
  • Provide a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management.
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Travel required to satellite offices including New Britain, Hartford, West Hartford, Meriden and Glastonbury and Norwich locations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN required)
  • Minimum 3 5 years labor & delivery or high-risk antepartum with extensive EFM experience
  • Electronic fetal monitoring strongly recommended / required within 1 year from hire
  • Current CT License Registered Nurse
  • Experience / familiarity with medical software (EPIC, Pericalm, Image Connect / Observer)
