Under supervision of the project director, the project manager will manage all aspects of the subcontracted steel scope by optimizing resources and minimizing costs.

Responsibilities

• Takes complete control / ownership of project and all its requirements.
• Review of the construction schedules, procurement, meeting minutes, RFI's, COR's, etc.
• Develops the project's specific scope schedule as it pertains to SIC and communicates with the team on project deliveries and objectives.
• Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents.
• Manages effective document control mechanisms for the project.
• Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status.
• Evaluates the job costs associated with project and make decisions based on the input provided.
• Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications.
• Reviews the project schedule and communicates with the production and field staff on project deliveries and objectives.
• Manages the request for information process in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information between designer and contractor.
• Assists the project manager in the maintenance of effective cost control mechanisms for the project.
• Manages the coordination with general contractors / customers and other trades as affected by our scope.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Must have a bachelor degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture or related from an accredited four-year university or college.
• Must have a minimum 7.5 years experience in construction. 5 years of structural steel / misc. metals experience.
• Technical Drawings / Plan read ability. Experience with computer drafting (ACAD / TEKLA Structures).
• Effective computer skills including proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint software required.
• Ability to demonstrate the competencies of achieving results, initiative, teamwork and analytical thinking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Must take the initiative to own projects
• The ability to work well with all levels of the organization
• A mindset for making continuous improvements of department processes
