Employment with Schroeder Iron Corporation Senior Project Manager

Under supervision of the project director, the project manager will manage all aspects of the subcontracted steel scope by optimizing resources and minimizing costs.
Responsibilities
- Takes complete control / ownership of project and all its requirements.
- Review of the construction schedules, procurement, meeting minutes, RFI's, COR's, etc.
- Develops the project's specific scope schedule as it pertains to SIC and communicates with the team on project deliveries and objectives.
- Develops full understanding of the scope and interdependence of all contract documents.
- Manages effective document control mechanisms for the project.
- Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status.
- Evaluates the job costs associated with project and make decisions based on the input provided.
- Evaluates submittals of shop drawings, material data and samples and takes appropriate action based upon contract specifications.
- Reviews the project schedule and communicates with the production and field staff on project deliveries and objectives.
- Manages the request for information process in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information between designer and contractor.
- Assists the project manager in the maintenance of effective cost control mechanisms for the project.
- Manages the coordination with general contractors / customers and other trades as affected by our scope.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Must have a bachelor degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture or related from an accredited four-year university or college.
- Must have a minimum 7.5 years experience in construction. 5 years of structural steel / misc. metals experience.
- Technical Drawings / Plan read ability. Experience with computer drafting (ACAD / TEKLA Structures).
- Effective computer skills including proficient use of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint software required.
- Ability to demonstrate the competencies of achieving results, initiative, teamwork and analytical thinking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Must take the initiative to own projects
- The ability to work well with all levels of the organization
- A mindset for making continuous improvements of department processes
