Job Summary
The Student will be focusing on measuring, inspecting and packaging finished products for distribution.
Principle Accountabilities
Operate mobile material handling equipment used for the packaging of finished products into crates or bundles
Identify all processing problems on all equipment and report them to the Shift Supervisor responsible
Measure and record dimensional and physical properties of the product at predetermined periods
Ensure all material storage areas, scrap storage areas, and pipe storage areas are maintained in an orderly and clean manner.
Movement and setting up of equipment into or out of the production areas
Startup of a production line and manufacture products to the required external and internal specifications
Building and packing pipe crates
Perform a variety of other task as assigned
Requirements
Currently enrolled as a student
Experience in a manufacturing environment would be useful
Experience with plastic extrusion is a strong asset
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Working conditions
Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labor, lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy objects (50-75 lbs.
standing and walking cover the majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels, and the use of equipment such as sharp blades.
A moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stress to this position.
