Job Description : Theater Teacher
Theater Teacher
The Theater Instructor is responsible for administering creative and fun ways to teach Theater to children, while utilizing the Building Kidz music thematic scope.
He or she works collaboratively with other members of the PA department to plan and develop one recital and one musical production a year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching theater to groups of young children ages 3-5. Classes range from 20-30 minutes.
- Curriculum development and lesson planning.
- Are enthusiastic and passionate about working with young children.
- Ability to commute to multiple locations.
- Ability to promote a feeling of security and trust in children by being warm, supportive, and comforting.
- Able to effectively collaborate with other performing arts staff to plan two imaginative show productions a year, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, set design, and costume design.
- Ability to work well harmoniously in a multicultural team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Performing Arts Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong knowledge of theater terminology and practices
- Minimum 2-3 years formal training in one or all of the following practices : music, dance, and theater.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferable but not required.
Experience in developing and teaching music / theater numbers utilizing different types of instruments and techniques preferred.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma (or equivalent) or ECE credits
- CPR / First Aid Certification
- Level One AZ Fingerprint Card
- TB test in the last 1 year
- All applicants must have a valid Driver's License and a reliable car as we have multiple locations and bring our services to our schools throughout the East Valley.
