A medical practice is seeking a motivated person to work as a full time Medical Assistant under the direction of the provider.

Essential Functions :
- Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height
- Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms and prepare them for the physician
- Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics
- Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment
- Explain treatment procedures, medications and physicians' instructions to patients
- Under Provider direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
- Fax referrals and imaging orders
- Submit medication prior authorizations
- Answer phones in a polite and professional manner
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience :
- Previous medical experience
- Computer literate and organized
- Must be able to learn and work within an electronic medical record
- Work well as a team and independently. A friendly disposition and willingness to follow through and assist others is a must.
- Experience working with a multi-line phone system
