Position Summary : This is a full-time, temporary position (June 3-August 9). The Summer Day Camps Coordinator will work with our program team to coordinate schedules, services, and supplies to support the 10-week summer camp program, on-site pop-up programs, and off-site outreach day camps.

Camper participation may vary among each camp; however, we are set up to serve 25-30 girls at one time. The position will also provide some oversight to 3 college interns / VISTA Volunteers, junior camp counselors (older Girl Scouts), occasional Girl Scout parents and community volunteers.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Work with program staff to plan, prepare and provide hands-on, and impactful summer activities.
  • Develop relationships with campers and families Get to know the unique needs of each Girl Scout and ensure that we serve her in ways that are best for her learning, development, and enjoyment.
  • Provide safe experiences for Girl Scouts Apply risk management, safe activity guidelines, and council policies to lead safe programming for Girl Scouts.
  • Coordinate on-site and off-site adventures and experiences Coordinate special subject matter experts, program volunteers, literacy volunteers, transportation and field trip sites, and partners.
  • Wear the four hats of leadership Provide mentorship, coaching, training, and supervision for Girl Scouts, camp counselors, interns, volunteers, and junior camp counselors.
  • Provide general administration over the on-site camps Supplies, scheduling, parent relationships, and general camp operations.
  • Develop community partnerships to deliver impactful programming.
  • Measure the summer camp program impact Coordinate and manage weekly camper data, surveys, outcome observations, etc.
  • Willing and able to be flexible enough to perform other duties as assigned, within reason.

  • Resume required
  • Minimum of a high school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Documented experience working with youth in the area of education, leadership, leading others, working in a childcare or camp type of environment, etc.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Must commit to a minimum of 35-40 hours a week for 9 weeks. (June 3-August 9)
  • Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts.
  • Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to staff, partners, volunteers, and campers.
  • Adhere to all council policies.
  • Willing and able to receive job-related training.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Some local to regional travel may be required planned and in collaboration with other staff.

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach, and moderately lift 10-20 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made with notice.
  • Must be able to keep up with the pace of a youth day camp environment.
  • Activities occur both inside and outside and the employee is subject to both environmental conditions; however, the employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
