As a Hospitalist Physician at Corewell Health West, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care. You'll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, manage acute and chronic medical conditions, and contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.

Essential Functions :

  • Manage acute medical conditions, including admissions, discharges, and rounding.
  • The Hospitalists cover both Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals.
  • Coordinate care with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance patient safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Participate in hospital committees, quality improvement initiatives, and case reviews.
  • Mentor medical residents and students, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Excellent schedule of 175 shifts per year consisting primarily of 7 on / 7 off; weeks starting on Tuesdays.
  • 7 paid jeopardy shifts scattered throughout the year reduces high census days.
  • A dedicated team of 8 nocturnists allows the day shift physicians with little to no night shifts required.
  • Census goal of 15 to 17 for rounding shifts.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients / significant others.
  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
  • Evaluates patients' / significant others' / staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.

Acts as a patient / family advocate.

Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development / application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
