The Red Hat Performance and Scale Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in the RHEL / RHEL AI Core Platforms team.
As part of this team, you will be responsible for comprehensive performance assessments of both RHEL and RHEL AI platforms.
RHEL AI is a Generative AI focussed platform built on top of RHEL and leverages the instructlab open source project.
What you will do
Deep understanding of Linux and the subsystems that make the operating system function and perform.
Formulate test plans, and execute performance and scalability benchmarks against various components of the RHEL and RHEL AI platform to drive improvements, detect regressions etc through data analysis and visualization
Develop tools and automation to aid the performance benchmarking work
Collaborate with other teams to resolve performance issues
Triage, debug, and solve customer cases related to RHEL performance
Submit performance benchmarking results to industry consortia
Publish results, conclusions, recommendations and best practices via internal test reports, presentations, external blogs and official documentation to support our partners and customers.
Participate in internal and external conferences about your work and results
What you will bring
As part of the team you will conduct performance testing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) kernels, KVM virtualized environments that feed into OpenStack and OpenShift Virtualization is a plus.
Ability to work Hybrid in Lowell MA, Boston MA or Raleigh NC
Experience in running performance tests, data capture, data analysis, and data visualization
Experience with systems performance engineering and metrics collection tools such as iostat, vmstat, sar, perf, pcp, prometheus, etc
Excellent written and verbal language skills in English
The following is considered a plus
Experience with linux container technologies
Experience working with AI hardware accelerators such as GPUs
The salary range for this position is $127,890.00 - $211,180.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity.
Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and / or equity.
For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
