Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for generating new business and growing existing accounts, within the group and catering segments, in order to maximize revenue and profits for the hotel.
This position will be responsible for account management of key market segments, as well as participating in select sales activities both on and off property.
The primary responsibilities for the Sales Manager include but are not limited to : Responsible for soliciting, prospecting, negotiating and booking new and repeat business through efforts, which could include;
outside sales calls, referrals, networking, etc. to maximize room revenue. Analyze historical, current and future hotel / market trends to create and develop key selling strategies to ensure hotel is positioned correctly with partners.
Develop and cultivate relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts to maintain and increase market share.
Conduct ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for continued development and identification of new markets.
Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and written form to previous, current and prospective clients.
Coordinate client specifications with all departments as appropriate, and efficiently respond to client comments or issues, to enhance future sales prospects and execute the functions as contracted.
Create positive client experiences, while ensuring all contractual agreements with the customer have been met. Service all groups while in-house as required by level of commitment in contracts.
Conduct weekly sales activities, while entertaining clients as deemed appropriate for potential business for that account.
Follow all established policies and procedures relating to administration of accounts and ultimate booking of business. Attend industry related events to generate new business.
Consistently deliver high standards of care to existing customers and to promote further business by exceeding customer expectations where possible.
Ensure all proposals and contracts are presented to the client accurately and effectively, while operating in accordance with strategic objectives to exceed market driven group revenue components.
Obtains all necessary information to complete resumes & BEOs in a timely manner, distributes group resume a minimum of 10 days prior to arrival date of the group.
Reviews all group resumes at weekly Resume meeting. Attends and participates in weekly Sales and Revenue meetings. Assist in fielding all phone inquiries pertaining to Sales and Catering.
Maintains accurate and neat files Qualifications Experience : Minimum of three (1) years of strong Sales and Logistics experience in a Full-Service Hotel Marriott Brand experience preferred CI / TY experience preferred JOB QUALIFICATIONS : In addition to performance of key responsibilities and supportive functions, this position may be required to possess a combination of the following skills and experiences : Experience in CI / TY strongly preferred Ability to analyze client needs, and negotiate pricing along with client requests.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work under time pressure. Demonstrated ability to work with maximum efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail.
Must have experience in all Microsoft Office and industry relevant Sales systems. Ability to work effectively in Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets regularly Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team.
Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources. Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
