Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 20 / 2025 Duration : 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool position requiring recent Med / Surg experience, night shifts, and an active ND or compact RN license. Responsibilities Position is based in an acute care hospital setting on a Med / Surg Float pool Patients include post-surgical (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical (CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetic issues) cases The unit has a combined 61 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5 on days and 1 : 6 on nights RNs work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday requirements Floating to other units is expected, with travelers being among the first to float Telemetry monitoring is present; monitor tech reads strips and RN confirms Uses Epic for charting CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment are used on the unit RNs are not required to titrate drips on this unit Unit orientation and a float checklist are provided at the start of assignment Any color scrub is acceptable for this role Support staff includes nurse aides with a 1 : 15 ratio Holiday coverage is required every other holiday First time travelers may be considered Requirements Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg nursing experience is required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required Must provide two references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years Copy of driver’s license must be provided Candidates must not have been employed by the associated health system in the past year Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-614006.
