Starting pay : $15.85 / HR with $1.50 / HR shift premium for 2nd shift

Job summary

Packers perform the final packaging of sausage patties and links from Work In Progress. During packaging, packers visually inspect product for defects and remove defective products from the line.

Weight of product is checked by packers for conformance with specifications for the product being packed. Finished packaged product is palletized per specification.

Summary of essential job functions

• Knowledge of product codes and descriptions including case pack configurations.
• Visually inspect meat for defects in size or quality and removing defective product from the line.
• Pack off finished cases on to pallets in proper tie and high configuration.
• Keep work area clean and tidy during production.
• At end of shift perform machine wipe down and cover motors with protective plastic.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

Provide on-the-job training to new team members.

Minimum requirements

• Manual dexterity required for performing job.
• Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds.

Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; steel-toed work boots, ear plugs, hair net, hard hat, beard net (if applicable), and smock.

Cell phones and jewelry are not permitted on the factory floor.
