About The Position
Job Title : Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Job Specialty : OB Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 7 : 00 PM - 7 : 00 AM, 12-hour night shifts Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Minimum of 2 years required;
a first-time traveler may be accepted with at least 3 years of labor and delivery experience License : Registered Nurse Certifications : - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring - STABLE (must complete within 30 days of start) Must-Have : Experience with all phases of labor and postpartum care, as well as care of well babies Job Description : Provide comprehensive care in a Level III Nursery with approximately 200 births per year.
- Care for low-risk patients through all phases : Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum / Couplet care.- Comfortably manage post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders / growers.
- Handle Med / Surg patient overflow for low acuity needs, such as IV antibiotics and rehab, with no infectious or telemetry patients.
- Follow patient ratios based on AWHONN guidelines : 1 : 2 laboring, 1 : 1 active labor, 1 : 3-4 couplets, 1 : 2-3 Med / Surg.
- Participate in neonatal care during C-sections and manage care of newborns, including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, and more.
- Work within a team including at least 2 nurses overnight, with support from available midwives and OB as needed.- Document care using the Cerner charting system.
- May float to Med / Surg or ED to assist with tasks only. Additional Information : Weekend and holiday scheduling includes an every-other rotation.
- Approval for time off should be sought with the manager.- Scrub color is flexible, but must remain professional, and procedural scrubs are provided for OR use only.
