Location : Watsonville, CA JOB DESCRIPTION :
Transport product from Smith Gardens facilities to customer, maintaining quality product, timely delivery, accurate paperwork and safe driving.
Transports materials inter-company as needed. May drive solo or as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Maintain vehicle, timely reporting of maintenance issues.
- Perform pre and post trip inspections of vehicles.
- Keep accurate records of deliveries, inventories, discrepancies, hours, and miles. Communicate with facilities any issues.
- Pick up racks, misc. products / supplies and transport as requested.
- Follow DOT regulations, complete paperwork accurately.
- Represent Smith Gardens with a cooperative, positive and professional attitude.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Ability to drive in rain and snow.
- Ability to handle vehicle in congested areas.
- Ability to read maps and follow directions.
- Ability to use electronic logs.
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION :
- Previous experience working with Class A license a plus.
- Clean driving record.
- Current DOT medical card.
- Current Class A CDL
- Must pass a road test, drug screen, employer check, and a motor vehicle report.
- Must be able to drive inter-state.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Work weekends and longer hours during peak seasons.
- Work as part of a driving team.
- Unload truck at customer sites.
- Able to push / pull rolling racks.
- Break down and load racks at customer sites.
- Secure loads with load bars and / or straps.
- Safely operate a lift gate.
