Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Critical Care Float RN with Level 1 Trauma and telemetry experience, holding a WI or compact license.
Responsibilities
Work in a Critical Care Float position within a hospital settingCare for adult populations in multiple ICU units, including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, and Trauma Surgery ICUMay also care for IMC, progressive care, and general care populations as neededAssignment involves day and evening shifts, 8 or 12 hours (0700-1930), including every other weekend and some holidaysTravelers are the first to float and may be assigned to various units or locations depending on staffing needsAcademic Level 1 Trauma Center environmentUtilizes EPIC EMR, with prior experience requiredTelemetry skills are required and tested pre-assignmentTelemetry exam must be passed prior to starting assignment, with strict scoring criteria and limited retakesProvide critical care coverage across various ICU specialties as assigned by staffing needsOrientation is typically one week and the schedule may vary based on department requirementsSome holiday and every other weekend scheduling requiredFirst-time travelers may be considered for some unitsWork in a Magnet-designated academic hospital with a collaborative, team-based environmentParticipation in Shared Governance is encouragedParking permit required for onsite parking, with alternative transportation availableRequirements
Active WI or compact RN license, in hand at the time of applicationBLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart AssociationMinimum of 2 years acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in critical care specialtiesPrior experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center requiredExperience in multiple ICU specialties with adult populations requiredPrevious successful completion of a 13-week travel assignmentBasic arrhythmia interpretation skills required, with the ability to pass a telemetry test prior to startMust reside at least 50 miles away from the facilityEPIC EMR competency requiredBenefits
