The Director of Finance is in asenior leadership role responsible for managing the organizationsfinancial health and strategy and facilitating smooth overalloperations.
This individual ensures sound financial planningaccurate financial reporting compliance with regulatoryrequirements and e ective management of financial resources tosupport the organizations mission programs andoperations.
KeyResponsibilities :
FinancialStrategy andPlanning :
- Developand implement financial strategies that align with theorganizations mission goals andobjectives.
- Lead the annualbudgeting process including preparing and presenting budgets to theboard of directors.
- Oversee longtermfinancial planning and forecasting to ensure sustainability andgrowth.
FinancialManagement :
- Manageall financial operations including accounting financial reportinggrants management andcompliance.
- Ensure in conjunctionwith our virtual bookkeeping organization the timely and accuratepreparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP orother relevant standards.
- Overseecash flow management investment strategies and assetmanagement.
Grants andFundManagement :
Monitorand manage grants and funding ensuring compliance with donorrequirements and / or restrictions and accuratefinancial reporting.
Coordinate withprogram sta to develop budgets for grant proposals and ensureproper allocation of funds.
Maintainrelationships with granters and donors providing necessaryfinancial reports andupdates.
Leadership andTeamManagement :
- Leadand develop the finance and operations team fostering a culture ofaccountability and continuousimprovement.
- Collaborate with othersenior leaders to provide financial insights and support strategicdecisionmaking.
- Promote professionaldevelopment and performance excellence within the financedepartment.
RiskManagement andCompliance :
- Implementand maintain internal controls to protect organizational assets andensure compliance with financial regulations andstandards.
- Oversee audits taxfilings and other regulatory reportingrequirements.
- Identify and mitigatefinancial risks through e ective risk managementstrategies.
StakeholderEngagement :
- Serveas the primary financial liaison to the board of directors financecommittee and other keystakeholders.
- Prepare and presentfinancial reports analyses and recommendations to the board andexecutive team.
- Communicate theorganizations financial status risks and opportunities tostakeholders transparently and eectively.
PerformanceAnalysis :
- Monitorfinancial performance against budgets and forecasts identifyvariances and implement correctiveactions.
- Analyze financial data toprovide insights and recommendations for operational e ciency and eectiveness.
- Develop and track keyperformance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial and operationalperformance.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or a relatedfield. MBA or CPA is highlypreferred.
- Minimum of 10 years ofprogressive experience in finance or accounting roles with at leastfive years in a senior leadership position within the nonprofitsector.
- Prefer experience withorganization of minimum $5 million annual budget orlarger.
- Strong understanding ofnonprofit accounting principles and financialmanagement.
- Proficiency in financialsoftware and systems including nonprofit accountingsoftware.
- Excellent analytical andstrategic thinking skills.
- Strongleadership and team managementabilities.
- Indepth knowledge offinancial regulations and compliance requirements fornonprofits.
- Exceptionalcommunication and presentationskills.
- Ability to collaborate eectively with crossfunctional teams and influencedecisionmaking.
- This fulltimeposition is virtual. Occasional travel to Pittsburgh headquartersand other sites will be required. Pittsburghlocated candidate wouldbeideal.
Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration,or a related field. MBA or CPA is highly preferred. Minimum of 10years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles,with at least five years in a senior leadership position within thenonprofit sector.
Prefer experience with organization of minimum $5million annual budget or larger. Strong understanding of nonprofitaccounting principles and financial management.

Education
MBAor CPA preferred.
