SALARY RANGE : $74,803.00 - $119,684.00 ANNUALLY

The Baltimore City Department of Finance is seeking a self-motivated individual with excellent verbal, analytical, computational, and writing skills.

The analyst will serve in the Fiscal Integrity Office in the Department of Finance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The candidate should possess a fundamental knowledge of the principles of real property valuation and a basic understanding of real property taxation within the City and the State of Maryland.

Additionally, the candidate should consistently demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and exhibit a high level of responsibility and dependability in their work.

These skills will allow the individual to :

Successfully assist the City’s Assessment Appeals Manager in the analysis of real property assessments in the City and the documentation management and prosecution of assessment appeals.

Work independently on multiple projects with strict deadlines.

Develop working relationships with individuals in both State and City government.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders within City government, counterparts in the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, and taxpayers within the City.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

This position requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited College or University with advanced coursework in finance, accounting, public policy analysis, business administration, business process reengineering, real estate, or law.

At least four years of experience in one of these or a related field is preferred. The successful candidate will have strong skills in Excel.

Additionally, some experience with GIS or other mapping applications is preferred. Applicants with the above qualifications are encouraged to apply.

EQUIVALENCIES

Have a bachelor’s degree, including advanced courses in quantitative methods and two years of additional experience, may be substituted for the master’s degree.
