Overview
The Chief of Security is responsible and accountable for the overall operation of the Security department. Ensures the physical security and safety aspects of the complex.
Implements programs to safeguard the welfare and assets of all guests and team members. Ensures the guest experience at Maryland Live is a positive, and safe one in all areas inclusive of parking, restaurants and gaming.
Directs, trains and ensures all members of the security department team are friendly, professional and engaging.
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities and Duties
- Develops and manages the budget for the security department.
- Manages the overall performance of the Security department. Provide protection and safety to guests and team members.
- Reviews staffing levels to maintain budgeted levels of employment. Delegate authority and assign responsibilities.
- Training and development of staff.
- Manages programs and processes to reduce and control loss time injuries.
- Review security activities with President and other members of the management team as designated. Is proactive by nature and demonstrates with programs, processes and procedures
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to include community involvement.
- Meet with departmental directors and managers as necessary.
- Manages property emergency and disaster plan.
- Manages program to deny under age people access to gaming areas.
- Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in security in investigations, surveillance, and management of processes and security procedures in high volume business or industry.
Minimum of three (3) years in management of staff.
- A four (4) - year degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid gaming license as required for the position by the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Commission.
Physical Requirements
- Casino is over 300,000 square feet and requires ability and energy to move about it with a true sense of urgency.
- Use of going up and down 31 stairs multiple times per day and elevators
Working Conditions
- 24 / 7 high energy casino with over 300,000 sq. ft of gaming and entertainment space and approximately 3000 employees
- Exposed to alcohol, cigarette and cigar smoke, bright lights, and loud noises.
