Regular Cost Center CC000535 CHS - Neuroscience 9E (Main) Pay Rate Type Hourly Pay Grade Health-27 Scheduled Weekly Hours 36 Work Shift Rotating (United States of America) Job Description Hours Per Week : 36 Scheduled Work Hours / Shift : 3 - 12 hr rotating shifts per week, including some weekends & holidays Job Summary / Purpose : 9East is a 23 bed Neuroscience step-down unit caring for adult Stroke, Neurosurgery, & Neurology high acuity patients.

All rooms have bedside monitors capable of monitoring arterial lines, measuring CVP and ICP and viewing Spo2 and EKG. Common diagnosis include stroke, hemorrhagic strokes, tumor resections, spine / neurosurgery, Parkinsons, and epilepsy monitoring.

Nurses are NIHSS & ACLS certified. SCRN and CNRN certification is goal within 2 years. Staffing ratios are 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 depending on acuity and experience with support of Patient Care Technicians and Unit Secretary.

9 East is a fast paced, high functioning unit focusing on safe outcomes Minimum Training and Education : Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.

RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.

Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations : Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR / AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
