JOb Title - Patient Financial Advocate

Location - 3300 Oakdale Ave N, Robbinsdale, MN 55422, USA

Hourly Rate - $26 / hr - $28 / hr

Shift Timings - 7 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM

Job Description

The Patient Financial Advocate's primary function is to perform a thorough financial screening of patients. The Financial Advocate is also North Memorial's primary contact for patient education in areas of insurance benefits, levels of coverage, and billing and collection processes. Responsibilities include ensuring that all accounts have been cleared for billing, obtaining insurance authorization for services, securing payment arrangements (including collection of co-payment / coinsurance) prior to patient discharge and for major outpatient services, identification of other potential payment sources (including Financial Assistance program, initiating / completing the Medical Assistance application process), and providing costs estimates.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

Effective organizational skills, including ability to prioritize, problem solve, and resolve conflict.

Excellent communication skills, especially when interacting with patients and families.

Advanced knowledge of insurance, including government assistance programs.

Must be able to work under considerable stress, using tact and diplomacy.

Requirements

Education :

High school graduate or equivalent - Required

Bachelor's degree - Strongly Preferred

Experience :

  • 1-2 yrs work experience as Patient Financial Advocate, Patient Registration, Patient Accounting- Required
  • Experience in customer service, especially in front end patient interactions regarding financial processes- Required
  • Experience with Epic - Required
  • Experience in communicating with insurance carriers to obtain authorization for services - Required
  • Spanish or Hmong speaking - Preferred
