Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant Obstetrics Support Per Diem
Job Overview : RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated IBCLC Registered Nurse for our Women's Health Unit in a Lactation Consultant role at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ.
With over 700 physicians and 2,100 employees, we offer advanced treatment for a wide variety of medical conditions. In 2017, the Medical Center completed a state-of-the-art campus expansion featuring a new four-story 87,000 square foot building with a private, 32 bed Intensive Care Unit, new Main Entrance and Lobby, Retail Pharmacy, Patient Registration Area and newly expanded Emergency Department.
Qualifications : Required : * Lactation Consultant experience* Strong communication and organizational skills* Demonstrative compassionate care and support* Proficient computer skillsPreferred : * Associates Degree* RN experience in mother / baby, postpartum care, women's health careCertifications and Licenses Required : * BLS from the American Heart Association* IBCLC CertificationScheduling Requirements : * Per Diem, Days* Flexible hours* Weekends requiredEssential Functions : Provides breastfeeding education and support to parents of infantsActs as a consultant to parents on post-partum unitConducts follow up with parents as neededParticipates in the education of nursing staff as it relates to breastfeedingDevelops policies and standards of care based upon evidenced base practice and current researchReviews and maintains current all educational materials distributed to parents regarding breastfeedingParticipates in consortium and community related breastfeeding activities,Maintains regulatory compliance as appropriateMaintains logs and prepares monthly reports as requestedActively participates in patient satisfaction initiatives related to breast feedingAssesses education needs of parents as it relates to breastfeedingCollaborates with all members of the healthcare team to meet the needs of the familyDevelops policies and standards of care based upon evidenced base practice and current researchEncourages unrestricted breastfeedingEvaluates for signs of breastfeeding effectivenessIdentifies maternal and infant risk factors and contraindications that relate to breastfeedingParticipates in consortium and community related breastfeeding activitiesParticipates in the education of nursing staff as it relates to breastfeedingReviews and maintains current all educational materials distributed to parents regarding breastfeedingSupports breastfeeding during the hospitalization and / or separation of the mother and infantOther Duties : Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
