Description of the role :
A home health aide provides support and assistance to individuals who are elderly, disabled, or recovering from an illness or injury.
They work in clients' homes and help with activities such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
Home health aides also provide companionship and emotional support to their clients, promoting their well-being and independence.
Responsibilities :
- Assisting clients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administering medication according to the client's care plan
- Assisting with mobility, including transfers and ambulation
- Preparing meals and assisting with feeding
- Providing companionship and emotional support to clients
- Performing light housekeeping tasks, including laundry and tidying up
- Documenting client care and reporting any changes in their condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals
Requirements :
- Certification as a home health aide or relevant experience
- Knowledge of basic healthcare procedures and practices
- Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Physical stamina and strength to assist with transfers and mobility
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
