Nature and Scope of Position
This position requires someone with high energy and who enjoys constant guest interaction. Your responsibilities include managing a full-service dining room and overseeing all aspects of the restaurant operation.
This includes all processes in the kitchen as well as all dining room service. Hours are based on a 52 hour work week, working a variety of shifts.
Opportunities for advancement exist throughout our nine franchised locations in Kansas and Iowa. Training includes a six week MIT program to learn all aspects of the Village Inn system.
Essential Functions
- Increase guest counts and sales by delivering Gold Standard Customer Service
- Human Resource Management (Training, Developing, Retaining, Supervising, Appraising, Disciplining and Scheduling)
- Facility Cleanliness / Repair & Maintenance
- Financial (Profits) Management & Administration
- Comply with food safety procedures
- Work with management team to meet sales goals
- Manage food and labor costs
- Execute company policies and procedures
- Monitor food inventory levels
- Manage and maintain safe working conditions
- Manage crew member employees
- Interview and recommend crew members for hiring
- Provide proper training for crew members
- Maintain fast, accurate service and provide top-notch customer service to every guest that comes into our restaurant

Skills and Knowledge
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies :
- Position will require many hours on your feet, working all positions in the restaurant (host, server, bussing tables, cooking and washing dishes).
- Must have a good understanding of basic guest service and feel comfortable interacting with the guest on a daily basis.
- Any FOH or BOH restaurant experience is a plus.
- The Assistant Manager must have experience in business management and people motivation and must be an excellent communicator.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required, college degree preferred
- Successful completion of required training, including reading training materials, watching videos, and completing on-the-job checklists and written quizzes.
