GURSTEL LAW FIRM, P.C. HR SPECIALIST
JOB SUMMARY As the HR Specialist, you will provide clerical and administrative support to the day-to-day HR operations. Primary duties include aiding and facilitating HR processes, aiding in the administration of employee health and welfare plans by acting at the liaison between employees and insurance providers making sure that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations.
As the HR Specialist you will be the SME in the processing of payroll for the Firm, ensuring timely submission. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including on-boarding, record-keeping, employee relations, file maintenance and HRIS entry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Training and Development Arrange and assist onboarding for new hires. Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
- Reconciles benefits statements.
- Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
- Assists with processing of terminations.
- Assists with the performance review process.
- Files documents into appropriate employee files.
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
- Engage in employee relations activities
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and reviewing SOPs with Departments to comply with internal and external standards
- Help manage employee relations and related programs
- Respond comprehensively to HR inquiries in a timely manner and in compliance with Federal, state, and local regulations (daily)
- Provide superior internal customer service to all new and existing employees
- Data entry and record keeping
- All other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS :

- Basic knowledge of benefits programs including health insurance-, short- and long-term disability programs, dental insurance, life insurance, and 401k plans, etc.
- Basic knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and forms (I-9, W-4, COBRA, ADA, ACA)- preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity- required.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and high motivation
- Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment
- Effective project management abilities with the ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional and courteous with a positive attitude
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to multitask and organize in a fast-paced environment
- Must be willing to work extended hours when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- BA in HR Management is preferred, experience may be substituted for education.
- PREFERRED-NOT REQUIRED- 2-4 years of experience in a Human Resources / Payroll environment - administering timekeeping and payroll processes using software (ADP Workforce Now) Will train.
PHYSICAL REQUIEMENTS :
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

TRAVEL This position requires up to 0-5% travel. Travel excludes local commute.
