Job Description

This position is hiring for swing shift.

SUMMARY

To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Setup : to accurately set up castings for radiography.
• Checks routing or requests to determine x-ray needs on parts.
• Reviews Technique Cards to determine setup requirements, including x-ray techniques, part positions and Film / IP requirements based on Techniques Cards.
• Sets up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards.
• Inspect condition and maintain Film / IP and cassettes. Follow proper handling techniques.
• Sets up castings on tables in x-ray machines including fixturing, placement of Film / IP's, and DICOM tag identification and penetrameters on Film / IP;

sets exposure parameters.

• Determines priority of radiographs to be taken.
• Develops best practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques when needed.
• Visually inspects castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris etc.
• X-Ray Operation : effectively and accurately operate x-ray machines and produce radiographs within customer specifications.
• Operates x-ray machine control panels and equipment to take multiple views of castings, adjusting radiographic variables such as tube height, voltage and exposure times within customer specifications.
• Monitor, Maintain, and generate exposures for System Qualifications on X-ray equipment per customer and PCC specifications.
• Regularly conducts more than one radiographic examination concurrently, and is expected to be able to operate all machines.
• Removes Film / IP from casting for image processing, while maintaining proper Film / IP handling techniques .
• After image processing, checks samples of radiographs on each casting for inner fearing Artifacts, clarity, coverage, pixel value and sensitivity;

makes changes within customer and PCC specifications; records any changes made; reshoots exposure when needed.

• Willingness to be audited without notice by all Auditors both PCC Internal and External auditing groups. e.g. PCC NDTE, NADCAP, ISO 9000,etc.
• Trains, mentors, and assists less skilled Radiographers with setup and operational techniques as needed and assigned. (Marginal job function in NDTE departments)
• Completes logs and records, and records any modifications to Technique Card specifications.
• Meets all production and quality standards.
• Safety : to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices; to comply with PCC radiation safety practices.
• Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
• Safely operates all equipment and tools.
• Identifies and reports safety problems.
• OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Performs other tasks as directed and other x-ray department personnel activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Radiography skills as demonstrated by the competent performance of all duties OR an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
• High school graduation of GED (necessary for NDT Certification)
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
• Ability to read, follow and interpret Technique Cards, Quality Control Manuals and other technical specifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

REQUIREMENTS

• Training is provided on the job.
• Radiography Level 1 Courses must be completed (radiation safety, digital method training, etc.)
• Radiographer Level l Certification must be completed for all modalities (Film, CR, DDA).
• Must re-certify - Level 1 every five years.
