00 - $165,000.00 Salary / yearJob DescriptionThe psychiatrist / NPP, in conjunction with the team leader, has overall clinical responsibility for monitoring individual treatment and staff delivery of clinical services.
The psychiatrist / NPP provide both psychiatric and medical assessment, along with treatment. The psychiatrist / NPP provide clinical supervision, education, and training to the team.
The psychiatrist / NPP provides psychopharmacology services related to the development, maintenance, and supervision of medications for psychiatric and medical purposes, including MAT, clozapine and Long-acting injectables.
It is highly recommended that the psychiatrist / NPP have the Data 2000, X Waiver, or trainings completed .Essential Accountabilities : The nurse practitioner must provide community-based services;
the initial assessment visit must be in the community and monthly community visits thereafter.Conduct psychiatric assessments within 30 days of admission and annually thereafter, including psychiatric history, course of illness, response to treatment, mental status examination and DSM V diagnoses and present assessment results at daily team meetings and treatment planning meetings.
Collaborate with the treatment team in comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; physical and dental health;
use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living and family structure and relationships.
Collaborate with the nurses in assessment of client physical health, making appropriate referrals to community physicians for further assessment and treatment, and coordinating medical treatments with psychiatric treatment.
Prescribe psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects and educate clients regarding psychotropic medications.
Perform individual, group and family supportive therapy and illness education in the process of carrying out the tasks above.
Along with other team members, provide support, education, and counseling to family members of clients to help them become knowledgeable about mental illness, collaborate in the treatment process and assist in their family member’s progress.
Provide on and off-site crisis assessment and management of patients during regular work hours, both on-site and over the phone, during other hours, and as on-call backup.
Be actively involved in both acute and long-term psychiatric inpatient treatment of clients including initiation and facilitation of admission to the hospital;
regular communication and consultation with the attending psychiatrist; frequent visits to clients in the hospital; and along with other team members, collaboration with the inpatient staff in the planning and implementation of treatment and discharge to the community.
Regularly attend daily team meetings at least 3-4x per week.Direct and collaborate with the nurses to develop, revise, maintain and supervise team psychopharmacologic and medical treatment and medication policies and procedures.
Input all visits and data into Vellohealth software.Receive supervision by and report to the Program Psychiatrist, Medical Director, Division Director and / or Team Leader.

Job QualificationsCurrently hold a nurse practitioner certification through New York State education department, must be board certified and experience providing treatment with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
Clinical supervisory experience is desirable.A clear understanding of the characteristics and problems of adults with severe mental illnesses and be knowledgeable about the ACT model.
Computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, navigate and enter all documentation into electronic medical record.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge of group dynamics requiredValid driver’s license and vehicle required candidates are subject to regulatory background checks
