Position Summary

The Department of Theatre seeks qualified individuals to join our adjunct pool for non-benefited, part-time teaching assignments in Theatre at the University of Denver in the 2024-25 academic year.

Adjunct Theatre faculty members teach 4-credit undergraduate courses. The opportunity exists to teach both introductory courses as well as higher-level offerings.

The specific courses involved may vary from quarter to quarter and openings to teach these courses develop on a periodic basis, depending on departmental needs.

At this time, we are searching for Fall 2024, Winter 2025 and Spring 2025 instructors only, however the opportunity may develop to teach courses in the future.

Essential Functions

  • Course instruction and grading.
  • Preparation of class materials.
  • Weekly office hours.
  • Guidance and support of students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Background and expertise in Theatre.
  • Ability to teach in-person coursework on DU’s main campus

Required Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience ( as a Teaching assistant with classroom discussion sections and grading responsibilities as part of a Master's or Doctoral program) and clear promise of ability to teach at the college level.
  • Availability to teach classes face-to-face in physical classrooms at the University of Denver.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree, PhD or ABD in theatre or relevant field.

Work Schedule

Varies.

While the University’s administrative offices are open Monday Friday, 8 : 00 am 4 : 30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas.

Course Rate

The 2023-2024 rate is $4,772 per four-credit course

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information-but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
