The Senior Director will be instrumental in shaping and implementing FINRA's data policies in collaboration with stakeholders while representing the Data Management and Governance Office (DMGO) in driving company-wide initiatives on data awareness, quality, privacy, and security.

This influential position is expected to drive consensus, establish widely accepted procedures, and deploy pragmatic yet unobtrusive controls.

Essential Job Functions :

Review, e nhanc e , and operate the data governance program , which includes data discovery, awareness, access, quality, and risk management processes.

Drive alignment and implementation of an enterprise-wide Data Governance operating model, ensuring a clear understanding of data ownership and stewardship with well-defined processes and roles.

Partner with security and privacy stakeholders to articulate data policies and standards, and as a stakeholder, work with technology to enforce them.

Take charge of monitoring the execution of data governance projects, course correct when necessary , and consistently produc e professional, high-quality Data Governance reports, communications, and presentations.

Demonstrate initiative in driving results and progress of the program and projects through influence and collaboration within technology, security, privacy, and business partners .

Lead the development of efficient and creative Data Governance controls, implement them in partnership with the data stewards , and play a pivotal role in facilitating enterprise data maturity assessments.

Run monthly data policy committee meetings by taking the lead in preparing agendas, tracking policy and oversight metrics, and making necessary updates to governance program and data policies based on the committee's guidance.

Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with FINRA business users , technology partners. and data protection stakeholders, gaining support for rolling out governance programs .

It includ es training and sustainability of data governance management in their business units across the data domains.

Education / Experience Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least ten (10) years of related experience, or equivalent training and / or work experience;

Master’s degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of managing technical programs and projects including staff management of at least fifteen (15) resources and budget of at least $3 million.
  • Knowledge of business, technology and management principles involved in strategic planning, organizational change management, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Subject Matter Expertise required in a minimum of one of the following disciplines, with substantial knowledge in remaining disciplines software development, operations, engineering, development services, information security, and compliance.
  • Experience managing staff comprised of both employees and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several initiatives simultaneously and balance competing priorities.
  • Past success contributing to strategic decisions for an organization, identifying investment tradeoffs, and delivering high quality solutions to customer needs.
  • Outstanding communication, organization, time management, interpersonal and management skills
  • Excellent problem identification, analysis and solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven change agent who can improve and grow the capability of an organization; keen eye for hiring and motivating teams

Work Conditions :

  • Work is normally performed in an office environment.
  • Occasional travel and extended hours may be required.

In addition to location, actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons .

California : Minimum Salary $171,900, Maximum Salary $351,200

Washington, DC / Maryland : Minimum Salary $171,900, Maximum Salary $336,600

Colorado / Hawaii / Minnesota / Vermont : Minimum Salary $149,600, Maximum Salary $292,600

New York, NY : Minimum Salary $179,600, Maximum Salary $351,200

Washington State : Minimum Salary $149,600, Maximum Salary $336,600
