Job Description :
- Provide holistic, individualized care using the nursing process under the general direction of the Unit Director
- Demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to quality patient care
- Perform functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care under the supervision of the Charge Nurse
- Adhere to all Standards of Nursing Practice and hospital policies regarding confidentiality, sexual harassment, advance directives, and American Disabilities Act
- Act as a Resource RN to meet the needs of Obstetrical Patients across various phases
- Systematically assess the health and status of patients ensuring the application of age-specific standards
- Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with patients / families considering developmental, cultural, and age-specific differences
- Provide patient / family education and evaluate teaching effectiveness
- Promote good communication, teamwork, professional relationships, and a positive attitude among the health care team
- Coordinate nursing care to achieve desired patient outcomes
- Document nursing care according to hospital policies and approved standards
- Participate in discharge planning for assigned patients
- Adhere to Universal Blood and Body Fluid Precautions and Infection Control policies
- Use equipment and supplies safely and efficiently
- Stay current in practice through attendance at in-services, seminars, workshops, and relevant reading
- Participate in the planning, revision, and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Promote positive community relations
- Contribute to the orientation and performance evaluation of new employees
- Adhere to unit dress code and employee health policies
- Attend staff meetings and support administration and nursing service policies and procedures
- Follow patient handling equipment policies in accordance with the Safe Patient and Handling and Movement Policy
