Seeking an operations professional who has experience with Universal Services Contract 10 (USC-9) to help execute voyages for break bulk, military and project cargos.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an emerging shipping company and become a founding member of the team, a very rare opportunity in the Maritime Industry.

Responsible for managing and executing the voyage process from planning to completion. This involves coordinating with chartering and other relevant teams to ensure smooth operations and meeting customer expectations.

Primary Duties

Maintain clear and effective communication with all involved parties, including vessels, local offices, procurement teams, ship managers, agents, stevedores, partner companies, and subcontractors.

Ensure that operations align with the terms of charter-party agreements and contracts.

Design comprehensive voyage plans, proactively identifying potential issues and implementing adjustments to ensure efficient and cost-effective outcomes.

Tackle any problems that arise during the voyage with prompt corrective actions.

  • Strive to improve voyage efficiency by minimizing costs and time across all operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and dissemination of final stow plans, along with detailed tier plans and load / discharge documentation.
  • Address specific voyage-related tasks such as :
  • Ensuring vessels are properly fueled.
  • Ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready and available at the ports.
  • Preparing and issuing Voyage Instructions.
  • Appointing Surveyors when required.
  • Handling documentation for discharges.
  • Securing and archiving sailing documents.
  • Finalizing and sharing stow plans.
  • Collaborating with Port Captains or local operations staff during loading and unloading to maximize cost-efficiency during coastal passages.
  • Monitoring vessel performance, including off-hire, for both owned and time-chartered vessels.
  • Keeping the voyage management system updated with the latest schedule information.
  • Completing and distributing all required cargo documents, charter parties, and contracts.
  • Preparing Letters of Indemnity in line with company policies.
  • Notifying insurance and claims departments as required.
  • Taking necessary actions to protect company interests in case of ship or cargo damage claims, seeking guidance when needed.
  • Participate in broader operational activities and support the operations management team as needed, including addressing internal demands.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Actively manage relationships with port service suppliers, coordinating feedback between local teams and regional operations.
  • Support contract renegotiations and other related tasks.
  • Assist with trade meetings, discrepancy reviews, management reports, and other operational queries.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in maritime or shipping operations is preferred.
  • Experience with USC-10
  • Prior experience in dry cargo, project cargo or break-bulk vessel operations.
  • Ideally, 3+ years in a similar role.
  • Strong integrity, honesty, self-discipline, and a keen eye for detail.
