Social Media Specialist

Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly skilled Social Media Specialist to join us in our Washington, DC office.

As the Social Media Specialist, you are a vital part of the Communications team. In this role, you will report to the Social Media Manager and are responsible for developing and inspiring cultural engagement on consequential issues for an audience of over 2 million followers on our social media platforms.

Through daily content generation influenced by social listening and social trends research, the specialist holds a pivotal role in acquiring channel growth and fulfilling the editorial objectives set by the Social Media team, the Visual Communications department, and the larger ADF Communications team.

Your Essential Responsibilities :

In this position, you will :

  • Manage the daily tasks and publishing schedule of multi-media content for all social media channels, both natively and through our task management system.
  • Monitor the news cycle and ADF’s various social media channels to assist in rapid response moments, and other relevant news.

Provide daily tracking reports and communication to the broader team on large news items

  • Pitch, write, repurpose, and curate both daily and campaign content for all social media channels including but not limited to X, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Manage and deliver regular reporting and metrics analyses to the Social Media Manager and the rest of the Visual Communications team for channels and posts
  • Monitor ADF’s social media community, facilitating responses promptly, tactfully, accurately, and on-message within our community of followers, influencers, and opposition
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and content creators on editorial concepts that speak to ADF areas of focus, tracking opportunities that will shape and influence mainstream media narratives
  • Regularly research and implement insights and best practices to maximize future channel growth and engagement

Skills you need to succeed :

Knowledge of :

  • Major contemporary digital platforms (X, Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of content publishing platforms

Demonstrated proficiency in :

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to efficiently analyze, identify, and summarize data to inspire content creation and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines

Ability to :

  • Innovate and utilize channel updates effectively to reach new audiences
  • Express mission values to social media communities in concise and direct ways
  • Research ADF’s issues and cases in the media, public affairs, and current events and use discretion to translate into compelling social media content

Education and / or experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or relevant degree (journalism or multimedia) or equivalent experience working in politics or advocacy
  • 1-3 years of social media experience
  • Graphic design and basic video editing skills are a plus

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $61,000 per year. This salary is reflective of a position based in Washington, DC.

This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, and office location.
