Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum) :

$31.554 - $39.443 - $47.332

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. What You Will Do

Under leadership, plans and administers assigned exercise instructor functions and duties. Assesses, implements, and evaluates exercise prescriptions for cardiac outpatients.

Facilitates multidisciplinary approach to patient care and attainment of department goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Exercise Science / Physiology.

AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

1 Year Experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation, Exercise training and / or teaching.

ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED

Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) - American College of Sports Medicine -PREFERRED

Other Qualification Requirements

ACLS required within 3 months of hire. The department is responsible for tracking and maintaining this certification.

Educates patients regarding exercise program and safe use of equipment.Participates in departmental mandatory code drills.

Customer serviceProfessional communication with Cardiac Rehab members / attendees.Personalizes care and utilizes members' names when communicating with them.

Adapts exercise program to meet members' individual physical and age-related needs.Creates positive atmosphere.Wears proper attire during exercise sessions and education classes (as defined by dress code).

Department policies and proceduresUnder leadership, assesses patients for exercise therapy utilizing patient, family, staff, and other resources to gather information.

Identifies and reports abnormal findings to appropriate staff.Assesses patient / family level of understanding.Under leadership, develops written exercise plan of care and communicates plan to patient and staff.

Establishes realistic exercise outcomes.Demonstrates realistic knowledge of exercise principles.Evaluates and revises patient's exercise plan of care based on continuous assessment and attainment of stated goals.

In collaboration with staff, involves patient / family in development and revisions of plan of care.Implements exercise prescription accurately, ensuring safe exercise.

Performs exercises with patients, demonstrating correct body position, prevention of injury, and use of equipment.Collects data of blood pressure and protocol measurements accurately during exercise session.

Sets priorities for care.Explains exercise procedures to patient / family.Seeks assistance with unfamiliar situations.Completes skill roster and competency education and maintains guidelines of care as provided in the initial orientation.

Complete all competencies in a timely manner.Promotes safe patient care through assisting in development and implementation of action plans for identified problems.

DocumentationDocuments exercise assessment, plan, intervention, and evaluation in patient record.Documents and report overt and covert signs and symptoms that indicate risk situations.

Records home exercise prescription or stress test evaluation (when available) to indicate patient assessment for outpatient program.

Appropriately records patient status on daily documentation and / or progress notes.Appropriately documents or reviews Phase II patients' individualized plan of care on patient Individual Treatment Plan during exercise orientation, every 30 days and on discharge.

Indicates current exercise activity, evaluation and changes in outpatient progression through daily charting, exercise log and progress notes.

Records "follow-up" telephone evaluation with patient 3 months post discharge on Ph II Patient Follow-up form.

LeadershipProvides input in unit goal setting.Practices cost-effective use of staff and supplies.Complies with safety standards, identifying and reporting any variances as described by organization / unit / department policy.

Follows through on assigned duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Possesses the understanding and the ability to apply exercise principles to a variety of adult patient populations including cardiac, vascular, renal, diabetic, obese, and others.

Possesses knowledge of pathology, symptoms, and treatment for cardiac disease.

Possesses ability to perform exercise testing parameters such as body fat, heart rate, and blood pressure.

Basic EKG knowledge.
