Patient Types : It is a multi-acuity unit; travelers will take MSU level patients if there are no ICU patients or you may have a mixture of bothPost-heart Cath, Cardiac (ACS / NSTEMI / CHF), post-surgical, Overdose, Cardiac arrest, Detox patients medical reasons, vents, septic shock, pulmonary edema, end stage COPD, oncology with complicationsSurgeries at the Facility : GI Surgeries, High risk colectomies, Resections, Gastric surgeries for gastroparesis, Vascular, jaw reconstruction, pacemaker insertion, orthopedic (spinal, joint replacement),Bedside Procedures Done : Cardioversion, Trans venous pacing, TEE, intubations, chest tube insertions, para / thoracentesis, central line insertions, epidural insertions, lumbar puncturesThey will teach travelers things they may want to learn (ABGs, U / S guided IVs etc)Patient Ratios : RN - 1 : 2 for acute patients up to 1 : 4 if Med-Surg overflow.
