Senior Database Engineer

The Senior Database Engineer has full accountability to design, develop, lead and sustain rich data-driven applications, services and business servers.

This role will continue the successful development of our applications on the existing SQL server platform while also helping the teams navigate through technology evaluation and incubation of application use in areas like Snowflake, Redshift, Postgres, MongoDB, and AWS technologies! This role also is responsible for significant portions of the DB platform architecture and will need to be able to interact with the other teams and contribute to the overall platform vision.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Provide defining, senior level and / or lead contributions to the development team responsible for the implementation of critical applications
• Participate in the full software lifecycle (requirements, design, code, unit test, deployment, sustaining) for assigned modules
• Sustain existing Lytx web applications. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and completely at the OS, DB, and application levels
• Interact with Product Management to determine requirements and perform technical analysis
• Acquire and maintain a clear understanding of the technologies used in Lytx’s products and services and help steer future technology vision
• Participate in scrum sprints with other developers, business users, and testers
• Other duties as assigned

Education And Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of industry experience developing software products or delivering enterprise-scale OLTP solutions
• 7+ years’ experience in a senior developer role with focus in relational database design
• 5+ years in design / development of high-volume OLTP environments
• Strong experience in SQL Server development
• High proficiency in writing and analyzing T-SQL
• Experience with MS SQL Server Service Broker a plus
• DB performance background in areas such as partitioning, sharding, replication / federation, execution plan manipulation, index coverage
• Ability to decompose and solve problems at the appropriate level within the system, keeping in mind the higher-level structures and their requirements and dependencies with adjoining subsystems
• Ability to effectively design solutions at both the feature and enterprise level
• Experience in an environment with continuous integration, automated testing and agile software development
• Experience in the following topics are a plus :
• Hadoop development (Java, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Pig and Flume, Storm, Kafka)
• Alternate RDBMS databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
• NoSQL DBs such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis
• AWS experience
• Application development (C#, WCF Rest services, Queues, Cache)

Salary is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

This position is also eligible for an incentive compensation plan. The expected hiring salary for this position is : $126,500.00 - $159,500.00
