Position Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees all maintenance operations across production and distribution centers, managing a team of seven technicians to ensure maximum equipment uptime, safety, and reliability. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills to effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. The Maintenance Supervisor also plays a key role in integrating new systems software into existing maintenance processes and acts as a primary liaison between operations and technical teams.

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise maintenance department personnel in accordance with company policies and procedures, including maintenance services, equipment installation, and machinery improvements.
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance and repair activities across two facilities, including production and distribution operations.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and repair priorities.
  • Apply strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) skills to identify and resolve machinery issues and repetitive failures.
  • Develop and implement long- and short-term maintenance strategies to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulatory requirements, as well as corporate safety initiatives.
  • Oversee vendor contract performance and ensure service standards are met.
  • Participate in project management activities as directed by the Maintenance Manager, including planning and execution of facility projects.
  • Apply Lean principles to identify quality and reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Manage manpower scheduling, workload distribution, and shift coverage to optimize performance and control costs.
  • Support the development of maintenance documentation, including inspection task cards, planning documents, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Drive engagement and accountability through consistent leadership, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Support security program compliance and maintenance-related policy improvements.
  • Assist in creating and managing RFPs for vendor or contractor services.

Requirements

  • Education : Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years in maintenance supervision within a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
  • Technical Skills :
  • Expert-level proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting using blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies, including MTBF and MTBR analysis.
  • Project Management : Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, timelines, and resources simultaneously.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Certifications (Preferred) : Maintenance Management, Lean Six Sigma, or Reliability Engineering certifications.

  • Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role is a highly active in movement role. The job also requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to stand, crouch, kneel, and work on ladders for long periods.
