Position : Driver / Fence Installer
Department : PVC / Aluminum / Wood / Chain link
Reports To : Crew Leader
Overview :
Job Responsibilities :
The responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to :
- Driver
- Maintaining a good driving record
- Ensuring material on truck / trailer is secure
- Adhering to all driving rules / regulations
- Transporting crews and material to and from job sites safely
- Laborer
- Measure and lay out fence lines and mark posthole positions, following instructions, drawings, or specifications
- DisDig postholes, using spades, posthole diggers, or power-driven augers
- Set metal or wooden posts in upright positions in postholes
- Mix and pour concrete around bases of posts, or tamp soil postholes to embed posts
- Nail top and bottom rails to fence posts, or insert them in slots on posts
- Stretch wire, wire mesh, or chain link fencing between posts, and attach fencing to frames
- Assemble gates, and fasten gates into position, using hand tools
- Insert metal tubing through rail supports
- Complete top fence rails of metal fences by connecting tube sections, using metal sleeves
- Attach rails or tension wire along bottoms of posts to form fencing frames
- Nail pointed slats to rails to construct picket fences
- Erect alternate panel, basket weave, and louvered fence
- Determine the type of tools needed for a job
- Check in / out of job sites, documenting hours per job
- Report any concerns or problems on job site
Major Competencies :
- Valid driver license for a minimum of 3 years
- A good standing driving record
- Ability to lift 30+ pounds
- Lift, bend, twist, kneel, stand, walk for duration of shift
- Able to work in extreme outdoor environments (i.e. wet, cold, humid, hot)
- Ability to use simple math for
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
