Job Description Summary

The Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Wake Forest University invites applications for a tenure-eligible Full Professor position to begin July 1, 2025 (tenure will be contingent upon approval by the Board of Trustees).

We seek applicants with research and teaching interests in the field of Asian / Pacific Islander / Desi communities / Asian Diaspora Feminist Studies with a specialization in Trans / Queer studies.

Subfields may include but are not limited to disability studies, fat studies, environmental studies, theater, dance, or film studies.

As a vibrant and growing department, we are especially interested in applicants who are prepared to take on a leadership role in the department.

We welcome applicants from various theoretical and methodological approaches with interests in publicly engaged scholarship and diverse curricular and co-curricular social justice initiatives.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or in a relevant academic discipline in the humanities or social sciences.

Successful candidates will show evidence of strong and effective teaching, sustained quality research, and productive collaboration with campus, community, and academic partners.

Job Description :

The successful candidate will teach 27 credit hours (typically as a 2-2-2-3 course load) over four semesters across all curricular levels.

Like all department faculty, the successful candidate will teach sections of an introductory elective course, "Perspectives in Gender and Sexuality.

Other assignments may include advanced elective courses, internship-based seminars, and seminars designed for first-year students.
