The School of Dentistry is looking for an Lead Dental Assistant to serve in the department of Clinical Affairs. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above.
The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment.
This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine.

What you need to know
Proposed Salary : $21.00 hourly
Work Schedule / Location : This is an on-site role with a typical schedule of Monday Friday 8am to 5pm.

Required Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six years of related experience in a clinical setting.
Required Licenses and Certifications :
Active RDA certificate with the TSBDE.
Current CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications :
Knowledge of operatory set-ups required for all procedures performed in the clinic.
Ability to organize and manage clinic supply inventory to ensure efficiency in patient care.
Ability to monitor compliance with all TAMU infection control and risk management policies and procedures.
Must be able to demonstrate competency with infection control protocols, instrument processing and management, four-handed assisting, preparation for various dental procedures, and acquiring diagnostic X-rays, including a full mouth series and panoramic X-rays.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Bilingual (Spanish, English) preferred.
Essential Duties / Tasks :
Supervisory Tasks
Serves as lead for dental assistants assigned to Dr. M.C. Cooper Dental Clinic.
Lead staff in day-to-day patient care by reviewing schedule and organizing team in a manner to maximize clinic efficiency.
Serves as primary trainer for dental assistants on performing front desk duties and responsibilities.
Manages the assignment of patients who are in the CEREC selective course at Cooper.
Communicates operational or personnel issues with Dr. M.C. Cooper Dental Clinic leadership.
Serves as primary point of contact for daily student rotation at Cooper.
Dental Assistance
Assists Dentist during dental procedures and monitoring of sedated patients.
Records pertinent clinic data, including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, diagnostic aids, and other in-treatment documentation.
Serves as primary point of contact for actual or potential patients via phone and upon arrival to the clinic.
Manages data entry of new patient’s profiles and update existing patient profiles in AXIUM.
Provides patient information to families, including detailed post-operative care instructions.
Infection Control
Coordinates and monitors clinic infection control and sterilization compliance as well as clinic maintenance needs.
Compliance Monitoring and Oversight
Collects all pertinent clinic data and makes the report for the City of Dallas Senior Grant which is essential for continuing to provide care.
Pull daily Cooper balance reports from AXIUM and send reports to the Office of Clinical Affairs.
