State Farm In-House Insurance Staff Counsel is seeking a Paralegal to join the Claim Litigation team. The selected candidates will be housed in Bloomington, IL. While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, currently a typical day as a Paralegal involves supporting attorneys nationwide with reviewing medical records and bills along with preparing medical chronologies. The team allows for a collaborative environment with experienced peer mentors. There are no billable hours in this opportunity. This role provides diversity of work and the opportunity for career development to include future responsibilities such as discovery related tasks as well as trial preparation. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. The selected individual will be considered a hybrid employee, spending some time working in the office. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Hours for the position are Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 AM to 5 : 00 PM.

Current Responsibilities of a Paralegal include but are not limited to :

  • Preparing medical record and billing summaries
  • Preparing medical chronologies

Future Responsibilities of a Paralegal could also include :

  • Discovery related responsibilities including initial drafting of reports
  • Trial preparation

    • Qualifications

  • Previous Experience preferred :

    • Recent experience in injury claims, litigation, or paralegal tasks is preferred

  • Recent civil litigation paralegal experience
  • Background in reviewing medical records and preparing medical chronologies and / or analyzing medical records
  • Key Skills required :

    • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, prioritize workload, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and communicate effectively

  • Strong written communication skills, attention to detail
  • Technology / software experience required :

    • Strong software / technical skills

  • Working knowledge of a Case Management system
  • Working knowledge of a Document Storage System
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Bookmarking
  • Education, including licensing and certifications :

    • Prior litigation or paralegal experience, paralegal degree / certificate / certification, medical training (i.e. nursing) or relevant coursework, or legal studies degree is preferred, but not required

  • Potential starting salary range : $ 53,901.25-$69,000.00

    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience

  • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
