Description :

The Labor & Delivery unit has 10 spacious, private rooms.

There are 2 antepartum rooms and 1 operating room suite.

The average number of births is 50 per month, totaling 600 per year.

The unit has a couplet ratio of 1 : 3 and a laboring ratio of 1 : 1.

The facility uses the OBIX EMR system.

There is a charge nurse and a lactation counselor on staff.

A unit secretary and maternity educator are also available.

Nurse aides and OB techs are present, ideally working day and night, depending on census.

Weekend requirements include every 3rd weekend, which may vary based on need.

The holiday policy includes one major and one minor holiday per year.

Scrub color is provided by the hospital.

Telemetry is centrally monitored.

There are no ventilators on site.

Anesthesia is on-call with a 20-minute response time.

OB is available on-call.

There is a 24 / 7 IV team and pharmacy service.

Shifts operate from 6 PM to 6 AM.

C-section experience is required, including circulation responsibilities.

Floating to NICU is required for feeders and growers only.

Orientation is 1-2 days specific to the unit.

Common patient diagnoses include mothers with gestational age of at least 32 weeks.

There are no VBAC or patients on magnesium sulfate or insulin in this unit.

Mothers labor and deliver in one room with newborns staying in bassinets beside them.

Skin-to-skin care is promoted.

There is a strong emphasis on teamwork in the department.

The unit was recognized for its designation as a 'Safe Sleep Champion' by the Department of Health & Human Services.

Cancellation policy allows the client to cancel up to 48 hours before the start of a 13-week assignment with no penalty.

The charting system used in the unit is EPIC.

A BSN is not required for this position.

Trauma level and care setting are acute.
