5 years+ experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant in busy Medical Internist office
Clinical Duties
- Take medical histories
- Preparing patients for examinations
- Assisting the physician during examinations
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT)
- Phlebotomy
- Complete Quality Measures falls risk and depression assessments
- Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections including vaccinations / immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.
g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
- Transmitting prescription refills, and prior authorization as needed
- Taking electrocardiograms (EKG)
- Wound care and changing dressings
Clean and sanitize medical tolls and equipment
- understands and respects importance of patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA)
- develops and promotes a constructive / positive atmosphere within the work area by demonstrating the ability to maintain cooperation with and assist fellow health team member
A dministrative Duties
- Using computer applications (Athena Electronic Health records)
- Answering telephones
- Updating medical records
- Scheduling appointments
- Clean and sanitize rooms and office (CDC guidelines)
